TOURIST CIRCUIT

09:15 / 14:15 Hrs. Benavides Avenue 255 Office C Miraflores - Lima.
09:30 / 14:30 Hrs. Exact hour of departure.
Our archaeological tour - ecoturistico begins in two principal cultural areas of Lima: Miraflores and San Isidro. Before which we seek to realize a perfect combination between the archaeology, the history, the architecture and the nature.

..

HUACA PUCLLANA (don't include ticket. Pay in the place). Price Adult S/. 15.00 (US$ 5.00) Children S/. 5.00 (US$ 1.50).

The Archaeological Complex "Huaca Pucllana" was an Administrative and Ceremonial Center of the Lima Culture, a society that developed at the Peruvian Central Coast between 200 AD and 700 AD. Located in today's district of Miraflores the "Huaca Pucllana" was built around 500 AD. "Pucllana" is one of the most important ancient monuments in Lima.

Located right in the middle of a modern residential area it is resisting the urban growth and reminding the Limeños every day about their archaeological patrimony. The complex consists of the archaeological ruins itself, a small site museum, an area for workshops, a small souvenir shop and a restaurant.

..

OLIVAR PARK

The olive grove "El Olivar" is probably San Isidro's most valuable treasure. Declared National Monument in December 1959 El Olivar is a beautiful park that like no other area in San Isidro represents this district.

The colonial olive tree plantation stands not only for the colonial and republican history and tradition but is also a green lung for the heavy polluted Lima. In and around the green oasis you find the municipal government, the famous library, an art gallery, the lagoon of El Olivar and beautiful mansions from the beginning of the 20th century.

For all bird lovers: the municipality of San Isidro put up signs showing birds you can watch in the olive grove; therefore keep your eyes open, it's amazing how many different and exotic species you can find in the middle of a city like Lima.

..

MILL AND PRESS
In the middle of the 80s still they could appreciate the mill and the press of San Isidro's Olive grove. An environment that was supporting the peace and harmony that few districts could exhibit. Brought of Camana (Arequipa), the mill and the press were used to extract the oil of olive tree in cold. They date back to the 18th century and are donated by Luzmila Justo to the council of san yokel in 1960.

..

VIRGEN DEL PILAR CHURCH

The history of the Nuestra Señora del Pilar parish (Our Lady of the Pillar) begins almost at the same time as that of the district it is in. For this reason, the residents of San Isidro recognize it as a distinctive landmark of the district.

Its ample central nave allows it to house a numerous quantity of parishioners and, traditionally, is used by resident of San Isidro to celebrate weddings and baptisms.

October 12th is the Virgin of the Pillar’s day of celebration.

..

MOREYRA HACIENDA HOUSE

The Moreyra Hacienda-House is the stately rural residence of the old hacienda of San Isidro. It contains, aside of its beautiful halls and private rooms, a pleasing chapel, basement and catacombs. It was built at the end of the 17th century and finished at the beginnings of the 18th century. Thus, it has three hundred years of existence and has been inhabited by the chief families of colonial and republican Peru.

The hacienda-house of the haciendas in Peru was the main nucleus of their operation. It served as residence to the owner and also constituted the administrative center of the agricultural business. Generally, it congregated around it the housing of the farm-hands, the stables, a chapel, a cemetery and a small main square.

HUACA HUALLAMARCA (don't include ticket. Pay in the place). Price Adult S/. 10.00 (US$ 3.00) Children S/. 5.00 (US$ 1.50).

The history of Huallamarca goes back almost to the beginnings of the Christian era, being first occupied by ancient settlers from Huallas del Valle in Lima. Beautifully preserved, this magnificent archeological monument is distinguished by the contrast created by the modern buildings that surround it and is a testimony of certain perceptions of life from the pre-Columbian era. The investigations the site has undergone have allowed us to recognize up to three different moments of importance in its occupation, before Lima’s time (2nd century B.C. to 7th century A.D.), Ishma (9th century A.D.) to the Incan times (15th and 16th centuries A.D.), each distinguished by their particular function (temple, cemetery and village) and by the development of complex societies.

Conceived at first as a temple for the congregation of a section of the population with ceremonial and administrative purposes in the pre-Lima times, Huallamarca was created in the shape of a tiered pyramid, and built during the regional development of the valley under the Rimac.

COUNTRY CLUB LIMA HOTEL

On May 26th 1925, the “Country Club Owners S.A.” company was constituted with an investment of 150,000 Peruvian pounds. Its Board of Directors was made up by Walter C. Hebard (Vice-president of Foundation Company) as its President and Marino Ignacio Prado Ugarteche (President of the Banco Popular of Peru), Alfredo Álvarez Calderón, Demetrio Olavegoya, Harold Kingsmill (Manager  of the Cerro de Pasco Corporation), Augusto Benavides and Percy L. Batchelor as Directors. The Country Club Owners S.A. Company was created with the purpose of building the Country Club and urbanizing the neighboring area of 1’300,000 square meters acquired at 53 cents a square meter, belonging to several haciendas: that of the Count of San Isidro (110,000 m2), Lobatón (125,000 m2), Matalechuzas (175,000 m2) and Orrantia (774,000 m2) and 116 m2 more. This urbanization had as a main axis just one avenue (currently, Javier Prado), made up of two sections and 40 meters in width which joined up Arequipa Avenue with Brasil Avenue, right beside the “town” of Magdalena. The aim of this avenue was to connect the Lima Country Club with Miraflores (the district to which all these lands belonged to during that time) and Magdalena. It was calculated that the lands of this urbanization would be sold at 15 soles per square urbanized meter to reinvest part of the earnings in the construction of the new building.

..

MUNICIPAL MARKET OF SAN ISIDRO
The Peruvian cuisine is considered to be one of most changed of the world. Thanks to the inheritance pre incaica, incaica, Spanish with 774 years of Moslem conviviality, and to the African, French, Chinese - Cantonese, Japanese and Italian immigration principally up to the 19th century, a great diversity of mixtures assembles, together with the Creole one, in a gastronomy of four continents in only a country, offering an important variety of local dishes of culinary Peruvian art in constant evolution, impossible to enumerate them in its entirety. It is enough to mention that only on the Peruvian coast, there are more than two thousand different soups and that in the country there are more than 250 traditional desserts.
Any person who does tourism in Peru, will have the opportunity to savour our gastronomy.

..

MARIA REICHE PARK
